Ten of Wands – It’s okay to say No

Druidcraft Tarot Ten of Wands Will Worthington blog blogger
Today’s card is the Ten of Wands from the Druidcraft Tarot.  It is a card of feeling obligated and overburdened.  An old man is carrying his ten wands uphill. His destination is not yet in sight, so we don’t know how far he has yet to travel before he can lay down his heavy wands.
When we often feel like this it can be a sign that we need to change our behavior and/or our attitude towards the need to do it all by ourselves. This is easy to write down but so much harder to establish in real life.

Lately, since I’ve started my journey towards more spiritual freedom,  I find my wands to be so much lighter and easier to carry. Also, my wands don't  hurt my back as much as they used to. And when I do feel tired, I don’t mind tossing them on the ground and take a nap on the side of the road. Life isn’t all about work and fulfilling (often self-imposed ) obligations and expectations. If only we were taught that play and having fun are just as important as doing our job and,…. most importantly, that it is okay to say NO once in while.

  1. There is a fine line for me between being disciplined (so I get things done) and feeling so overwhelmed that what should feel good feels like drudgery. I'm still trying to learn those dance steps, lol.

    1. Ha ha Me too. The way I'm dancing right now is perhaps too freeform but for now I like it. :)

  2. You go girl. Say No when you want and need to. I used to have a difficult time of saying no, I have gotten lots better at it.

    1. The older I get, the less I need to be "the good girl", so yes, No is becoming an important part of my vocabulary too

  3. It always surprises me when I laugh outloud, because I often forget that I can.

  4. I so fully agree with you! A work colleague and I are carving out time to view each other's artwork by scheduling a formal "meeting" on the official calendar (admittedly the title of the event is rather bleak and serious sounding, so as not to appear suspicious) Ha!!

    1. What a great idea! Pity though you have to "hide" it from the others ☺

  5. I love what you say about your wands no longer feeling so heavy, Ellen! The more you can do what you love, the lighter they get, I think. This is why, for me, success has to include being authentic to what you are really passionate about.
Too many years doing what you're told you have to, rather than what you want to, is a heavy load to bear! It can be scary to drop some of those shoulds, to say no to some things and yes to others. But worthwhile, I hope ;)
