Legacy of the Divine Tarot |
For today I've
drawn my daily card from the Legacy of the Divine Tarot by Ciro Marchetti. It’s the four of cups. This card is slightly different
than other four of cups' in different decks.
Instead of not looking at the presented fourth cup, this man is gazing at the
cup as if there was nothing else to look at. In his perception this is the most
beautiful cup in the whole world. So instead of interpreting this card as
boredom and a lethargic feeling, I would see it more as never be satisfied with
what you have and always looking for the next quick fix or rush. This goes beyond
buying more and more decks.J It can be a way of thinking about every aspect
of your life. Material stuff, job, relationship and so forth.
The most
obvious solution to this problem is also the most difficult: It is living in
the Now; moment, by moment, by moment ….
I get
easily distracted by media, advertising and longing for more than I have/am
now. But when I am aware of where and when I am, I'm totally content and
satisfied and so grateful for my life and who I have become. There is no desire
to change this, just to go forth moment by moment by moment and change will present itself in its
own time
It's so easy to get caught up in the belief that I'll be happy as soon as I have ___ (fill in the blank). You would think we humans would catch on after being led around by the media like harnessed horses for so long!
ReplyDeletePerhaps it has something to do with our gatherers instinct :D
DeleteWow, yeah, I really like that take on the 4 of Cups…. it reminds me a bit of the 7 of Cups… I like this understanding that one could spend so much time wishing for or idealizing something that they don't have, that they forget all about the wonderful things they already have in their lives. Nice!!
ReplyDeleteThe seven of cups is more not knowing what you want and this guy only wants what he doesn't have.
DeleteI wish I had blinkers sometimes :D
True, though 7 of Cups is about wishful thinking, so I see something similar there :) Yeah, I try to avoid Amazon, precisely for those reasons :) !!!!!!!!!
DeleteYes of course, you're right. Avoiding YouTube is also helpful! :D
DeleteIt is an interesting version of the 4 of Cups. As you say, the man is focused on the one cup that is out of reach. It looks bigger and brighter than the cups nearby. Often with the suit of Cups we are talking about illusions or delusions, things appearing to be something they are not. Something seen from a distance can seem far more appealing than it is up close, in reality!
ReplyDeleteYes that's right therefore I like Ciro's interpretation of this card very much :)
DeleteI can't connect with Ciro Marchetti's imagery. I have the Gilded Tarot and I could never read with it. The Four of Cups is an interesting card, I always associate the Cups suite with emotions, I think, for me, this card shows a dreamer, some one who looks above him to see the thing he wants most, not recognizing some of it already sits with him in his life. I also think it means to be careful when dreaming because sometimes we can be distracted by our dreams and not live in the present reality.
ReplyDeleteI agree, living in the moment is so vital.
DeleteThe connection with the artwork of a deck is rather personal. I do like this deck. his other two decks I find less appealing. But I am anxiously waiting for his lenormand deck to arrive in the Netherlands :)
