Kali - Facing fears

Chrysalis Tarot Holly Sierra Kali The TowerYesterday I've compared Storm Angel with the Tower and that reminded me of The Tower card from the Chrysalis Tarot which depicts the goddess Kali
She is a Hindu goddess, an aspect of Devi, the Divine Feminine. She is a slayer of Demons (mostly inner ones) and a Goddess of Time and Death. Although she has a frightful appearance she is a loving, protective mother goddess
She is the goddess of the ending of cycles, the death and transformation energy that lets go of the old and brings in the new. Kali is a loving energy that helps free us of fear, she only destroys that which keeps us in bondage”,
She will help us with: Courage, Determination, Direction, Focus, Motivation, Protection, Tenacity
I am going to put a depiction of her on my altar as a focal point for the coming time. It is almost Samhain, a time to let go of old and non serving thought patterns. Fear is one of my largest stumbling blocks and is keeping me from the things I really want to do and even to a point  I don’t always know what I really want anymore. I am so good  in avoiding difficult situations

Kali is all about facing our fears and acknowledging them is the first step. I don’t expect to get rid of them right away. She is also goddess of time. It will probably be a spiraling process; each time around I will free myself a bit more. To accept this is a learning process too.

  1. I don't remember feeling as much fear in my twenties as I do now. Is it because we've experienced deep loss or because we have more than just ourselves to worry about? You are so brave to be willing to face your fears, to pull the curtain away from them and see what is really there. I once heard an American ask a Hindu teacher why Kali look so terrifying. He said, "If you had someone in charge of protecting you, would you want them to look meek, like a pushover?" :)

Yes, pulling the curtains away is maybe as far as I dare to go but it is a start :)

    2. Make that all four of us, my post today is also about facing fears! :)
As well as being willing to look at them, there are ways of letting them go if they are not fears that help you be safe and well. Building your sense of security in the present, and also exercises to release the original fears, are both worthwhile...

    3. this is so extraordinary! As I've said to Higgiugiuk I believe being in the present moment will dissolve my fears. For a large amount they are dusted old rigid thoughts. Facing them is a first step because a lot of them are buried deeply

  3. I think it's impossible to live without fears. They are the source of our strength, though it may seems a paradox. The most you're able to face them, the stronger you become. Anyway it's true, when we are younger sometimes our fears look like high mountains, while through experience they reshape themselves in hills, though rocky and stormy. Maybe Kali is also telling us that we need to be prepared to be destructed. And this is why courage, love and a light heart are so important.

    1. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" came to mind :)
Maybe you are right; clinging to life and goods do make a person anxious. I think when you try to live in the moment fear and worries will dissolve.

  4. I see synergistic energy here! I drew the High Priestess today, the intuitive Spiritual Mother who gives strength through our intuition..

Ellen your post makes me think of the German fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin. Once the miller's daughter who spun straw into gold. She learns his name and she does not have to give her baby to this troll!

I think it works the same for our fears. Once we name ours fears, and face them, they diminish, fade or disappear. They no longer have the power over us.

    1. We too are on the same wave length today.my friend.
Yes the is indeed power in naming something. I love this fairy tale so much.
That is why I want to identify the hidden fears to name them and to try to release them bit by bit
      Thank you for this.
      Hugs
