Details, details…..

Today’s card is “ Details, details”  from the Enchanted Map Oracle cards. As is to be expected, the depiction is very detailed too. We see a tiny mouse with a magician’s head sitting on a looking glass. He is searching for “clarity” and “important notes” In the background many stars brighten  the study room. I wonder if he notices them...A compass is situated in the foreground.

It feels to me like the assignment of this card is to find a balance between paying attention to the details and not to get lost between them.  It is so easy to keep searching for more convincing reasons to stay where we are or to travel to the next phase in our life. Often searching for more reassuring details and is keeping us from experiencing life as it is presenting itself to us. It is often more tempting to keep searching for clarity in the books or on the internet than to take a walk outside, enjoy a sunny day and breath in nature’s wordless wisdom.

  1. I think you make an excellent point; when we recognize clarity, we need to act on it. It may be easier to ignore it (especially if we don't like the message) and keep looking for other answers. Reminds of people who want multiple tarot readings in hopes of getting the message they seek.

    1. Ha ha My youngest can be like that. Oh mom, let me pick a card! No, another one! No another! Another I don't like this deck at all! :D

  2. You nailed it. I often think I should kill my blog. If I haven't gotten the message yet, and moved on, I never will. How many ways can there be to needle myself into being a better person? At my age why should it even matter any more. Details details...

  3. I can get lost in the details. I am with Sharyn. I have been posting for a bit over a year and think sometimes I have said all I need to say.

    1. Then it is time to start repeating yourself over and over again because the most important messages and insights seems to elude us over and over again too

  4. That stack of books reminds me of my thesis written in the margins of other people's books. Your post reminds me to take regular walking breaks with notebook in pocket for when the clarity strikes :)

  5. Ha, this card really chimes with me today. There's the temptation when studying for an essay to just keep on researching and researching, especially as it's all such interesting stuff. And yet, at some point I need to start writing...

I hope you are finding a good balance between clarifying details and actually making your magic work, Ellen :D

    1. You are not the only one Chloe A lot of creative people have that same issue :)
And thanks; I hope you'll find it as well my dear friend

  6. I like your discernment between the importance of details and the need not to become overly caught up in them. To see the forest for the trees is essential, but sometimes we have to be able to see the forest in its greater environmental context ;)

    1. I love this metaphor with the forest and the trees. These times it feels extra important to keep looking at the bigger picture
