I've finished knitting my tarot bag

Yesterday I've finished my tarot bag for the Joie de Vivre tarot. It is more like a wrap with a little sleeve for the deck so the cards won’t fall out. I've found this pattern a long time ago online and I don’t know anymore who has designed it. A lot of my decks (tarot and Lenormand) are the proud owners of such a wrap. Most of the time I try to match the yarn with the backs of the deck I am knitting for. Sometimes I even wrap them first in a little scarf or a silk hanky. In that way I always have a little spread cloth at hand.
Since I cannot knit large projects anymore, I love to be able to cloth my “baby’s” in warm and soft outfits J

  3. Wow, this is so nice! It's nice to be able to create something like this for your decks. My sister bought me something like this made of cloth (not knitted) - the wrap around with a pouch and tie - and I think it's my favorite deck holder to date. Your cards are very lucky :)

  6. A beautiful little pouch for your cards, and a gorgeous colour, too! I always prefer handmade to commercially produced things. There is magic in your own creativity. x

  8. That is beautiful! I've knitted some tarot pouches, but with nowhere near the level of polished finish that yours shows. What wonderful detail with the tie and edging *impressed face* :D

    1. I suppose it is the intent that counts not the end result. But thanks for the compliment! * Shy face* :D

    1. It is not an exact pattern. I've just knitted a strip and sewed the end into a little sleeve. The borders are finished with a crochet stitch. The long sides and the sleeve with a chain stitch and the outer flap with a picot.
*1 single crochet, 3 chains, 1 slipstitch in the 3e chain from the needle, 1 single crochet int the next single crochet* repeat (Or any other picot you like)
When you've figured out how many stitches you need on you knitting needle fro the right width you cannot go wrong. I hope this makes sense to you
      Happy Knitting

  10. Lovely! I like the pattern, maybe I'll put one together out of cloth. I got material for my cards last year sometime. I made a couple of bags, but never got completely done.

    1. Thanks Cher. that is a lovely idea. I think it would look great.
Sewing projects tend to gather dust with me too. They often need no more than finishing a few seems :)

  14. I love the simplicity of this little sleeve! I will be making one later today, my poor little cards have been naked for months now. Did you make your own cordage? At first glance I thought it was a crocheted cord, but on closer inspection it looks twisted. Either way BEAUTIFUL work! May your days be filled with happiness and light.
