The Knight of Cups can’t make up his mind

Original Rider Waite Tarot, Knight of Cups,
For today I've drawn the Knight of cups from the Original Rider Waite Tarot. This  Knight is the romantic, the dreamer, the artist, He is the one who wants to pursue a holy quest. He is holding his cup with his ideal in front of him. His horse is ready to go and yet there is a hesitation to move forward. What could it be ? To answer this question I pulled a second card: the Seven of Cups. O, my poor knight; so much confusion is going on in his head: Life is a banquet of possibilities; why should I choose just one path? Perhaps I can have it all. Perhaps I am meant to have it all. Sometimes I feel that if I don’t choose one path and apply myself to it, I will never really accomplish anything with my life, and yet what path could possible keep me forever entertained when there are so many exciting things to try?” (leila Vey)
Original Rider Waite Tarot, Seven of Cups,So he doesn't have one goal, quest or passion. He has too many options to choose from and now he isn't sure if he has picked the right one and it paralyses him with fear. So what can he do?

I can relate to this fear quite easily. Eager to improve my life, to expand my knowledge, to practice my creative skills and so forth, I can get stuck, procrastinate and do nothing of the things I would love to do. The answer is so easy and at  the same time so very difficult: get up, pick one cup and go for it! Then pick  the next on and so one. If you are like this knight you are blessed to have so many passions in life. What if your seven cups were all empty but one….

  1. What a great post - one that I can relate to so well. I might not have the financial resources to do a lot of things, but I think everyone has creative resources. But to choose one and work on it - now that is a challenge! My inner critic can make me stumble before I ever get a good start if I listen to her. :)

    1. We should come up with a good plan to stifle our inner critics once and for all! :D
I don't have much money to spend either. My cups are mostly filled with ideas, fun challenges, books to read, journal writing, tarot exercises, baking, knitting etc.

  2. I certainly relate to this post especially the Seven of Cups, Ellen. Being a pretty typical Gemini, I have a double whammy. I think too I am a little ADD. Just to add to it , it's been a life of all or nothing. I certainly have improved in these problematic areas of my life.
I have lost count of how many times I'd start doing something in the house...like filling the sink with water then start something else, next thing I know, I have a with a wet floor!
I used to be great at starting things, super and finishing things, but all that middle bit...took me years to get that down. Going back to school and university helped me a lot, because I learned to apply and discipline myself, work hard and complete my projects.
As well the the daily habit of writing gives me a good foundation, and jumping off point, but I still struggle sometimes. It's all about progress, not perfection.
I used to be a hopeless romantic. Now I'm a hopeful romantic! LOL

    1. A hopeful Romantic; that's the spirit. I wonder if life was more easy, not such an uphill journey; wouldn't it get incredibly boring. I mean when I read your comment and see how you struggle to progress just like we all do. It is a miraculous example of drive and passion which I wouldn't want to live without.
      Hugs

  3. Just this morning I made a decision about one cup that I am going to set down, because like the figure in the 10 of Wands, we can't hold more than a few cups at one time. As you say, it may be best to pick up one cup at a time, and now it's time to lay this one down, to pick up another and drink deeply from it… :)

It is good to know we can can put them in the fridge for some time before drinking from them again:)
