All the ingredients for nice relaxed Sunday

After the challenging cards of last week according to my tarot cards, I am going to have a lovely Sunday. I am going to enjoy my own company as well as spending some quality time with my daughters. So this is going to be a day of harmony and balance.
I seem to be more inclined to acknowledge the predictive qualities of the tarot when I pull positive cards like these two. Perhaps I am more eager to be influenced by the energy of these two cards rather than feeling depressed about my nine of swords experience.
But as always it all comes down to my own perception of reality. What are my thoughts and how do they make me feel? If I feel down how can I be mindful enough to be aware of my thoughts and change them into more comforting ones?
Perhaps cards like these can be helpful in this process. Today I have drawn them from my deck but sometimes I pick the cards which will remind me of qualities I want to embrace or manifest. Almost like a sort of a visual affirmation. I used to do this more often and I am glad that I have rediscovered this practice by writing this post

Which card would you pick for yourself?

Ace of swords and three of cups. Will I finally get it?

For today I've drawn two cards from the Hanson Robert Tarot. Another of my decks which doesn't get as much attention as it deserves.
Hanson Roberts Tarot
First I got the Ace of Swords. Always a good card to draw: New idea’s, looking a things from a new perspective, receiving clarity and inspiration and so forth.  But like all the aces it is remaining a bit vague. Ideas about what? Inspiration to do what? This sword even has a laurel, so it promises success too. I didn't want to let it rest and in search for more clarity (J) I decided to draw another card. To my surprise I drew the Three of Cups. When I read for myself this is the card that often represents me and my daughters. It encourages me to be open and loving towards them and to receive their love in turn. After yesterday’s conflict, this is for me a hopeful pair of cards. Will I finally get it now? Look at those three women talking and listening to each other. The feel  of this card is so peaceful. We are not the dancing types from the R.W. but this fits us beautifully. It is still early, but I am positive today will be another good day.

I have the card of Lakshmi on my altar now and I am going to chant to her too. So far it is a very beneficial practice for me. Meditating is more easy and I am less distracted by all kind of chit chat in my mind. For me it is a wonderful way to connect to Goddess.

You just have to be quiet

October 2: In the Catholic church it is the feast of the guardian angels. What does my guardian angel ( or spirit guide or patron….) want to tell me?
The Lovers Hanson Roberts tarot

The First question that I have to ask myself is: do I believe in guardian angels or something like that?
I don't believe in them as specific beings but I can work with them as energies or aspects of the divine. Perhaps they could be a manifestation of my higher self; that part of me that is connected with the divine (my sparkle J) Or it can be my intuition speaking. In any way I belief they can give me a message or some guidance if I am quiet enough to listen...
Can I see the card of today as such a message?  I’ve got The Lovers from the Hanson Roberts Tarot
Well that’s a surprise! There is an angel in the picture looking at the couple and trying to get their attention. But they are too wrapped up (literally) in each other that they are complete oblivious of that angel in the sky. Or perhaps the angel is silently waiting until the right moment comes along to intrude.
In either case I tend to see the lovers, since I am not in a romantically relationship, as a blending between some parts of me (ego subconscious and higher self) or a coming together of my male and female side. And of course there are meanings like: unconditional love, making a responsible choices, self love, longing for unity etc.
What stands out in this card in comparison with The Lovers from the Rider Waite tarot is that this couple is holding each other tight, whereas the R.W. couple is standing apart and they're looking at the angel. I prefer the couple from Hanson Roberts. It is obvious that they love and care for each other. The woman seems to be somewhat stronger than the man. I feel that she is taking responsibility for him. I don’t think this is a status quo, but more a sign that two opposites can take responsibility for each other back and forth.
For me today, with this card, an angel is trying to tell me not to be so predisposed with loving and caring, but also to make some free time to connect with the divine. Loving yourself and others is perfect, but there is more…

Take some time in these darker growing days to be quiet and just listen. You'll be surprised……

Friday the thirteenth

ten of swords, tarot hanson roberts
Hanson Roberts Tarot
After reading this blogpost from Siddaleah I wondered: Is it wise to draw a card from your tarot deck on Friday the thirteenth.
Just like Siddaleah I use tarot mostly for self-development and not for fortunetelling. My idea is that fortunetelling can create fear and anxiety. For me reading tarot is a balance between using book knowledge and your own intuition. It’s my opinion that intuition and fear don’t go hand in hand.
Then why do I feel hesitated to draw a card on Friday the thirteenth; metaphorically speaking.  Sometimes there are situations so pressing, so important, that I hesitate to draw the cards for advice. I think afraid that those dreadful cards that everybody knows will come up. Mostly I do a spread afterwards, for insight in how I have handled things.
I wonder what you think about this; do you believe in Friday 13th ?
