Gaia – Off to meet the Empress

Chrysalis Tarot, Gaia - The EmpressGaia is the Greek personification of the Earth. She is Mother Nature, Mother Earth, and the Great Mother of us all. She is the living consciousness ; the soul of the Earth. Everything physical, everything what grows and blooms, every living creature is part of Her. She is everything and she takes care of her realm in a just, fair and loving way. When you look at the depiction you can see She creates an unbridled wealth and abundance and She loves whatever she creates (the dove in her hands)

Our five senses are the best instruments to get to know Her. Connecting with Her can be a wonderful sensual experience. Smell the flowers, the rain, and fresh baked bread, touch your loved ones, brush your hair, listen to the birds, taste some chocolate and look at your gorgeous reflection in the mirror. And while writing this last sentence I realize I am too much a swords person and am neglecting the physical part of my being. I take my health for granted and spend too much time inside behind my books and my laptop. Especially now, when I'm getting older, it is so important to keep my body strong and healthy. So enough written about Gaia. I am going to take my bike out of the shed and I am off to meet her

Today I will give extra loving attention to my physical body  to restore the balance between body, mind and heart

  1. The older I get, the more I stay in my thoughts and the less attuned I am to my body (except when it hurts, lol). I am so grateful to you for this post today, as I've missed yoga and walking two days in a row, and I think it has attributed to the dark cloud over my head. :) I will definitely make an effort to reconnect with my body and senses today.

    1. "except when it hurts, lol" Same here I can be so obsessed when something isn't working right (remember my neck ?)
Perhaps we can take a walk together this afternoon. :)
Anyway I am glad I could remind you of your physical practices
      hugs

  2. I think it's sad how many "spiritual" paths forget or deny that the body is just as much a part of us as the mind. Still, there are plenty that make up for it, with walking meditations and yoga being prime examples. It's wonderful that you are remembering your body today, and (re)connecting with the Goddess through her body and yours :)

    1. I've just returned from my walk which was a great opportunity to pick up my chanting and turn this physical exercise into a walking meditation :)

  3. Yes Ellen,

I remember when I was a young teenager dedicated to yoga. My friend who lived in her books and in her head, and I was always trying to get her interested in yoga. She once said to me, "my body is something I just drag around."
With the internet it is definitely easy to fall in this ' drag your body around' mind set. Think I'll go get me some Gaia tonight. It's a gorgeous evening here!

  4. Gorgeous card! And you are so right about the need to remember our bodies. I live in my head so much of the time too, and forget to just be present in my body and feel, see and hear what is around me. I'm trying to be more conscious about that myself.

    1. I was glad to be able to put some of us in contact with their body again. I am also relieved I to discover I'm not the only one struggling with this! :D
