The Wheel of Fortune – Through change we learn

For today, my last post in August,  we've got the Wheel of Fortune from the Crystal Visions Tarot. In this card we see a blend of the four elements around a wheel with on the inside the astrological signs and the moon and the sun in the middle. The outer rim shows the four elemental symbols. The wheel represents our fortune and changes in luck but also it stands for spiritual growth and changing visions.  As we all know life moves in cycles and we keep coming back at the same checkpoints. They can be as natural as the seasons (Yay, Autumn is here!) but also more personal, like the ebb and flow of our spiritual and emotional life. We learn that after the downfall we always will rise up again even stronger, more mature and resilient
The funny thing is this morning I realized a tarot deck is a kind of wheel in itself. Instead of spinning The Wheel and hoping for the jackpot, we shuffle our deck and pull a card. So often we pull the same cards and try to learn something new; add more meaning and /or discover more layers. Just yesterday I've read a post about the wheel at "By the Sycamoretree" and I wondered what more I could possible write about my wheel. But then I came up with this post and so my little tarot wheel turns again.

  1. I remember talking to Sharyn (Quirkeries) when I first decided to blog several years ago. She said it was easy to write about a card the first or second time, but the more you keep blogging the more likely it is to come up again. She was right, but drawing the same card over the years has made me look and dig deeper each time, and I've uncovered some nuggets along the way. Though the cards might be the same, each day is different, with its own set of joys and problems, giving me plenty of soil to dig in. :)

    1. Yes "digging deeper" I like to see it that way. maybe it also is not so bad if we repeat ourselves occasionally. we will always rephrase our initial perception of the card.
The nuggets are definitely worth the blisters :D

  2. Ah too funny. I went to draw my daily card this morning and once again the same card, that's come up several times over the past while. It appears to be the case I am not alone in this repeat performance! I like what you say Ellen, about learning more from the same cards.
And so yes, The Sycamore Tree I will be getting out my spade and dig a little dipper this morning!!! Thank you gals! Helps a lot! And here I thought there was something going wonky and I was all alone in my wonkiness!

    1. You will always have company in your wonkiness but it is good to hear/read it one in a while. In your case it is even more challenging because on your blog you read always with the same deck. Which I think is admirable by the way :)

  4. The card coming up again issue is something that encouraged me to use different decks. However, I think that as we change and our circumstances change, we naturally see cards through different eyes…
Glad to hear you're finding your inner phoenix :)

    1. I think working with different decks helps to expand our meanings and to discover new angles.
My phoenix insisted I should play with paint this afternoon which was lovely. I am so glad I am feeling better again
      Hugs

    2. Ooh, that's lovely, Ellen! Both that you're feeling better, and that you played with paints. Hope we'll get to see your new treasures :)
