What a
downhearted, sorrow full bunch of cards
this is. I've pulled them from my Anna K
tarot without any specific question. The
Nine of Rods was my first card and it set the theme for this spread. This
card is all about taking the time to regroup yourself after some serious
battles. The man is obviously hurt, dead tired and on guard for the next
attack.
I can
relate to this card since we have a lot of things to work out around new social
security rules for M and what the officials expect from her and if she able to meet
those expectations. Since this isn't the first and certainly won't be the last time we have to deal with this
kind of trouble, we are a bit inclined to expect the worst. So I asked the cards if
there was a better way to approach such a situation and I got The Emperor and the Three of Swords.
At first
glance it seemed like a dreary set of cards filled with grumpy characters and
sadness and lots of greyish colors. But when I looked closer I could see some
sound advise here. The Emperor will guide us through the maze of rules and
regulations. He urges us to learn about them so we will be sufficiently prepared once we have to meet with the officials.
Also he advises us to detach ourselves emotionally which is highlighted by the
Three of Swords. There is no reason to get all sad and broken hearted yet. Most likely the officials aren't; set out to hurt us and we
don’t always have to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Maybe everything will work out fine just as usual.
So although
these cards look all sad and grey I am very pleased with them today and they’ve
put a smile on my face
Well Pulled, Well Read. and all the best to M!
ReplyDeleteThank you on all accounts:)
DeleteIt helps if you can keep your sense of humor when it comes to government mazes and paperwork. We were just down at the city car tag office yesterday trying to get some answers. It felt a bit like the Abbott and Costello "Who's on First" comedy routine. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. Often the people behind the counter know just a little as their customers.
DeleteAnd yes a touch of Humor often adds a bit of yellow between the grey :D
love this style of cards, especially that three of swords, so refreshing NOT to have a heart in it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to M.
Thanks and yes it is less bloody this way :)
DeleteThese cards you've drawn impress me as strong cards, they are looking outward in their gaze, facing head on whatever is in front. The Emperor well you can't mess with him, he's got it covered, as I see this card representing the 'All-Father' who embodies our spiritual ideals, and you've got lots of those to draw from Ellen!. The Nine of Rods urges you to be prepared, and resolute. The Three of Swords is clearing the path for resolution and relief ahead.
ReplyDeleteI empathize having to deal with government red tape and BS. But if I can keep my sense of humour and my cool things work out. Easy does it I tell myself. I'll say a prayer it all goes smoothly.
They are strong ones indeed. It is so easy to go into panic mode when confronted with this "BS". This morning I saw a wonderful video of Kelly Ann about setting your intention before for the day ahead first thing in the morning so you won't get overwhelmed so easy by external influences. I think this is something very worthwhile to try
DeletePanic you say?! I'm well familiar! Breath. Yes intention is very good one step at a time and first things first. Take care of your self Ellen! <3

DeleteFor what it's worth, Ellen, last Summer I faced a tricky situation and drew The Emperor as the central card in a reading for this. It turned out he was the one who actually cut through the BS and helped put me on the right road! Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteThanks Halcyon for your encouragement. I do believe I underestimate the Emperor's influence sometimes. Seeing him too much like an iron-fisted medieval king instead of a fatherly energy who can guide us through the maze of bureaucracy. :)
DeleteI hope all went smoothly, Ellen! You could also see how hemmed in the Emperor is by all that black-and-white. I've found that when dealing with bureaucrats, appealing to their humanity can sometimes help, as well as understanding the system within which they are working. After all, they are people, too, if you can remind them of that. A smile and an honest request for help can work wonders :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cxx
It surely did. When we finally got in touch with the right person she was so understanding and made everything very comprehensible and acceptable for M

So glad to hear it, Ellen :)
