For today I've
pulled “Diving for Light” from the Sacred
Rebels Oracle. We see a beautiful dressed and coiffured lady, who has taken the leap
and plunged herself into the waters of her subconscious. She has wheat in her
hear and seahorses as adornments. For me it says that she is still awake and
aware while being guided on her spiritual journey.
This card
calls us to find our inner Light deep inside us, in places where we will expect
to find them the least: In the dark corners of your heart, in the shadows of
your soul and the cobwebs in your mind. The places you've “forgotten” all about
but still have a strong grip on you during your daily life. Each difficult experience
and period of your life brings also gifts beside the grief and the hurt they
carry. All too often these gifts get overlooked because we are so busy trying
to coop, to forget or to repress. To discover them we have to find the courage to dive deep, to accept the darkness, embrace the pain and gather the gifts.
Yesterday I
felt inspired by Kerry’s post on Neopagan Priestess where she told us she was inspired by me talking about
mandala’s. Right there and then I picked
up a piece of paper and started drawing too. First I drew three concentric circles
and a few lines as guidelines but I found
the courage to skip the drawing of a “perfect” mandala with pencil and started
right away with paint and crayons and colored pencils. It was so much fun to do
.
Feeling creatively
blocked is kind of a dark place for me. Not feeling good enough, feeling unsecure
and afraid of failing is always lurking in the corner of my mind. I feel like I
have dived deep and found a little fearless gem
by making this mandala. J
I think you are creative in where you place your cards to photograph them - I really like the grain stalks in this one! There is something centering/grounding about mandalas; yours looks like a mandala for spring. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev. I am surprised how much I enjoy taking these pictures and making this mandala made me humming again. :)
DeleteI agree about the creative photos. This one is great...I love it! And the mandala is beautiful, I like the colors very much, especially since it is still very grey outside where I live. Spring hasn't fully arrived yet.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Spring hasn't arrived here fully yet too. We have a fierce stormy weather here.
DeleteI'm going to check out the 'Sacred Rebels Oracle' that card is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs to Mandalas, in the late 80's myself and a few friends made some nature mandalas, twigs, stones, small fallen tree branches and pine cones, I've no photos as it was a very spontaneous ritual, so all we had was the memory of it, but it was beautiful.
Your beautiful mandala certainly is a little gem, it would make a very pretty tattoo :)
Thanks Jane but I will stick to my brushes and pencils for now :)
DeleteI've seen pictures of a few nature mandalas in a magazine and I think they were absolutely beautiful. Maybe when the storm passes I can try to make one for myself.
gorgeous! Don't hide your light under the proverbial bushel!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me I am trying Sharyn.
DeleteSuch a beautiful mandala - I love how you have given the spirals 'roots' ! I see alot of vitality and growth - perfect energy for Spring : ) I have been working with the Sacred Rebel Oracle over this past month - I've really enjoyed the depth it brings to my daily draws. I'm tempted to continue with it into April.
ReplyDeleteHi carol. thank you for your kind words. I am glad to hear you are enjoying this oracle so much. I absolute adore it. I think the guidebook really adds to profound experience.
DeleteOh Ellen! Amazing Mandela! I love them so much! Your's is beautiful, delicate, and fills me with warm thoughts of Spring! Really deep, insightful, positive post. You've lifted my spirits.
ReplyDeleteSetting your cards in photographed setting is very inspiring! I love it!
So many thank you's for your support and kindness Catherine!
DeleteOh I meant to tell you. This morning I saw a picture of what an artist did, with perfectly round stones. She painted dots in pattern to make beautiful Mandelas! They were just incredible. She is Canadian. I'll have to go back and get her name to see more of her work.
ReplyDeleteO now you've made me curious too. Please keep me updated!
DeleteI love that card from the Sacred Rebels! Beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteI love every card of this deck!
DeleteThat mandala is stunning, Ellen! And I think going free form is the best way to truly express yourself. Jung said drawing mandalas is a wonderful insight into your inner state, and yours looks light and full of growth :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Chloe! Picking up my art supplies and actually drawing something makes me feel so happy
DeleteBeautiful Mandala. I've tried in the past to draw these, but they always look awful. You statement of 'concentric circles and a few lines as guidelines' sounds like the perfect fix for me. I'll have to give that a try. Have a Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteHi Cher, thank you!
DeleteThose few lines will really make the difference. Lately I've been practicing doodle patterns in a grid notebook. That is also a lot easier than on blank paper.:)
