The rune for today is Kenaz or Ken (torch), the
rune of fire and illumination, of knowledge and cunning, of inspiration and
creativity. Kenaz is about the physical fire like for instance the hearth, as
well as about the spiritual fire we see displayed
in the suit of wands.
The Queen
of Pentacles from the Original Rider Waite Tarot has come to share with us her
wisdom about the wonders of her earthly realm.
Kenaz and Queen together remind
me of the cunning woman in the forest. She has no need for book knowledge because
she reads nature as her ”book of life” and she distills not only potions and ointments
from the herbs she finds but also deep embedded truths from the lessons learned
by observing the turning of the wheel and all its wonders.
I could dream and fantasize about such a life for hours and hours but that won’t bring me much fiery energy in today’s life. So
for now I am going to finish my coffee and then I will take my bike out for a spin to enjoy the sun on a early Spring day.
Maybe it was the fiery rune, but these two draws made me think of Brigid. She was known for her inspiration (poets) but also her practical side (smiths, crafts, medicine and livestock).
ReplyDeleteWow thanks Bev!!! I like it; Brigid!! How could I have missed that :D
DeleteWonderful!!!
Coffee and a bike ride? Perfect! I enjoyed this post Ellen. Enjoy the sun!
ReplyDeleteI am home again. It was so good to be outside and watch the early signs of Spring but omg, my muscles are rusty from couch potatoing. Luckily I can always make more coffee:D
DeleteSo nice to get out on your bike Ellen! Geez by the piles and piles of snow here,it will be way past Spring before it melts, and I can get out on my bike! But I am so looking forward to that!
DeleteI can imagine you're longing to get out of the house.I do hope you don't have to wait that long! It felt so good to exercise outside. My skin absorbed the sunshine like a dried sponge!
DeleteYa looking forward to doing my impersonation of Sponge Bob Square Pants!
DeleteWe've also enjoyed a glorious Spring day here, Ellen, and I thought of you, the Queen and the torch. I don't think I can read nature as well as our Queen today, but I have been gardening! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great Margot. I think this Queen is a lady with green fingers, so she would be a good energy to tap into for gardening. :)
DeleteI really like that integration of the card and rune. Great post, Ellen!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve!
DeleteWe walked in the sunshine on Saturday, too. Such a blessing to feel spring in the air and the sun on my face :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how wonderful that must have been. It is Monday now and the sun is still shining!
