Crystal Visions Tarot |
Predicting
the future has always been the first purpose of this deck of cards. Later on we
have began to use tarot as a tool of psychological development , spiritual growth
and guidance and as instrument to enhance
our intuition. It will be obvious that I am mostly keeping myself busy with the last two
subjects. Predicting? not so much my thing. Do I believe it is possible? I’m
doubting it. In my opinion every tarot card can be applied to every situation.
The one you pull will determine (if you let it) your focus on the situation at
hand. For instance, should I go on this journey? Ten of swords: perhaps, but you should be careful. The fool : you will have great adventures. Who
is to say which card is right? they both can be: you can be careful and have adventures
at the same time. This is of course an example.
But I have
decided to give this predicting with cards a go.
Yesterday I pulled, just for the
fun of it, three Lennies: stork + rider+ coffin
Gilded Reverie Lenormand |
Oeps! Coffin. I don’t like that card in a prediction.
And immediately there is that other stumbling block why I don’t predict the future.
I feel uncomfortable when I pull scary cards. None of the Lennies did ring a
bell for me. This morning I pulled a tarot card for the main energy of today:
eight of wands from the Crystal Vision tarot. Then it hit me. This is not going
to be a normal Sunday: First M and I are going to visit my husband and will be decorating
(stork) his room, then we will go home where S and her boyfriend are throwing a late Sinterklaas
party with a lot of guests (unicorns + rider). And what about me? I am sitting
in my tiny room blogging and listening to music (boxed in and hiding J) A coffin isn't always scary!
I have to
confess I liked it a lot. And tonight I’m going to pull three cards for the coming
week…….
I have a mistrust of "fortune telling" types of readings, because I think there are so many variables to consider. I don't think it's the cards' fault, it's just that we humans aren't very good at interpreting them in this way (unless you count hindsight, lol). Would I bet my health, my life or my savings on a reading? No way. For me they can offer signposts - things I need to keep an eye out for and respond appropriately to if needed. I had a woman do a Lenormand reading for me for the month of November where the coffin came up. Both of us made lots of guesses, but none hit the mark. It was only after the fact that I could see it had to do with a feeling of emptiness and separation.
ReplyDeleteI guess what I was doing today was hindsight either :)
DeleteI wouldn't bet anything on a predictive reading. But this was just fun to do. Perhaps I should call it "afterdicting" with the cards
"afterdicting" - now I love that term! :)
DeleteI agree ... predictive not so much. As a tool for growth, absolutely. Works wonders and always amazes me. I love the never ending journey of it all.
ReplyDeleteI think I will end up doing just my own thing with the cards, but I will give it a try. not so much predicting but just pulling some cards and see later in the week if they make any sense.:)
DeleteYeah, I think that is a good idea to pull some cards and go back later. Perhaps make note of happenings inside or outside yourself. Then have a look to see if anything fits for a particular card/s. A great learning tool.
DeleteYes I'll do that. I like to write things down.
DeleteNever too old to learn!
Hi Ellen ! Very good post!!! Very interesting point!!!. It seems to be like "to be or not to be..." :) for many opinions I have read in internet and blogs a time ago. I sometimes use it for predictions but always knowing everything changes constantly, as life and circumstances change constantly, and our mood changes too from day to day. I have very clear that cards are not definitive. I use tarot and oracles for meditations and for advise and messages. Muchas Estrellas!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes that is where I use my cards for too and I am starting to thinking perhaps this is my way of doing thins and I don't need to take that exit.
DeleteTee hee, I like the idea of afterdicting, Ellen! And that was a fun reading, the way you connected it to your day :) Psychologically, you could read those Lennies as: messages of change bring closure...
ReplyDeleteReading the cards psychologically is my main approach. but sometimes the cards just to want to be read with a touch of humor and ordinariness :)
DeleteGreat interpretation of my Lennies. I have to keep practicing with them to find some deeper meaning besides who does what and when and why
You seem to be doing fine with the Lennies, if you can just trust yourself :)
DeleteThat's what it always comes down to, isn't it? Trust in ourselves :)
