Release the Dark Wound, Let Love Live

For today I've drawn “Release the Dark Wound, Let Love Live Card number 15 from the Sacred Rebels Oracle Deck.
We see the releasing of a beautiful fish in the water. Look at the colors and shimmering of his scales. And do you see how the bones are coming to life again in both the fish as in the one who lets go. I imagine that is how old wounds look like when released in the ocean of Love.
When you are holding one to those old wounds you might notice they are all connected; rooted in one deep primal dark wound: “The Death grip of Perfectionism” . Feelings of unworthiness, fear of failure, guilt, regret; all these pains can easily be backtracked to the need for a perfect life.
I can relate to this. I mourn my losses but I also mourn the loss of what never has been but what possible could have been. And believe me that is something wonderful and blissful. And it hurts to let go of this just as much as it hurts to let go of grief from the past
This card urges us not to let ourselves be defined by our wounds but to heal them with Love and experience how much energy and vitality is gained by letting go of our sad stories.
Look at how eager the fish is to swim and bath in Love. Let’s free ourselves of the need for perfection and watch how we start to shine!

"In order to go on living one must try to escape the death involved in perfectionism."
Hannah Arendt

  1. Part of the Buddhist path (and others too) is not allowing the pain of life to crush us to the point we close off our hearts. Instead we can keep a vulnerable soft spot and recognize our connection to everyone else - they too feel pain just as we do. Beautiful card!

    1. A long time it thought closing of my heart was the answer to my pain but I hadn't realized I was closing of part of myself too.
So letting go with love seems to be wiser solution. :)

  2. Here's a story inspired by the lovely image on your card today...when my son was an infant he used to love to hold things in his beautifully pudgy little fists. One day I watched him exploring a small item in his hand, holding it close, moving it around, watching his hand move it, and then he was done. Instead of pushing the object away from him he simply held his hand up, opened it and let it drop and he watched fascinated as the object fell to the ground.

I have always remembered that as a profound teaching in letting go, no need to push something away, simply release the grip and it will naturally fall away. Something about the embodiment of his pudgy little fist opening so gracefully to release the object went to my heart in such a visceral way, touching me with its truth far more profoundly and articulately than any teacher could have spoken about. This card reminds me of that moment. May it be so for all of us, that wounds are released to be rebirthed, composted or absorbed into the earth.

    1. O, what a beautiful and personal view on the subject of letting go. Thanks for sharing this with us Rose.
Children can teach us so many things if we are only willing and open to learn.

  3. Perfectionism is such a fierce taskmaster, and we are the one holding the whip to our own back. Love sounds like the perfect antidote. I love the idea of swimming in the sea of love, I think that's what I sometimes touch in meditation, or any flow activity :)

    1. Honestly, even while meditating I feel the urge to strive for perfection. that is why sitting outside and let my mind roam free was such an eye opener.

  4. WOW, Okay, this was an eye opener. Disappointment comes from expectations. When your expectations are of a perfect life, you will be disappointed because there's really no such thing. Thank you Ellen, this post was exactly what I needed this morning. It's time to let go, and let be.

    1. Hi Cher I am glad this post resonated with you. We all have to realize one way or the other that Now is all there is and it is the best we can get for this moment.:)
