A Three Card Daily Spread – Trusting my swordy skills will remove my blindfold

For today I've done a three card daily tarot spread for myself with The Original Rider Waite Tarot. The positions are as following:
1 The general energy of the day
2 The challenge of the day
3 The gift of today

The Original Rider Waite Tarot, Four of Cups, Queen of Swords, Eight of Swords
The Original Rider Waite tarot
1 The general energy of the day – Four of Cups
For me today this card is all about having enough to deal with and not needing any more cups  with emotional “surprises”. There is a lot going on at home which is putting me in the position of maintaining the emotional stability and to be honest it is exhausting. So three cups in a neat row is manageable but I don’t want anything else on my plate. Please !!!
2 The challenge of the day – Queen of Swords
My rescue might come from my inner Queen of Swords if, I will be able to channel her qualities: Keeping my head above the clouds. Making kind but firm decisions and setting some boundaries to take care of my own peace of mind. How I love this Queen and the wisdom with which she reigns
3 The gift of today – Eight of Swords
Yay, my gift is to take of my blindfold and step out of my circle of limiting beliefs. I am stronger than I think I am and pitying myself is not the way to tap into that strength. So chin up and try to take some time to recover, without wallowing in self pity.
So I will be able to cut away the ropes which are draining my energy and do the things I love which a clear mind. Staying active is the best medicine for today and every tomorrow

  1. May you find those dangerous, sharp swords surrounding you are really just plastic props that have no substance! (((Ellen)))

    1. Thank you my friend
Things will get better when we sort out our plan of action. M has to have dental surgery which causes a lot of stress

    2. Oral surgeons tend to have REALLY good drugs. :D My C had to have 4 permanent teeth pulled (due to overcrowding) and a few years later all four wisdom teeth removed. Her docs made sure she had plenty of drugs to combat both anxiety and pain. And as long as M will follow the doc's post-op instructions, she'll be fine I bet. (((M)))

  2. Hello, first-time commenter here! I'm new to the tarot-web and have been really enjoying your daily draw posts.

I like your take on the three of cups - I almost always see this card described as a situation where someone is ignoring or missing an opportunity because they're too preoccupied to accept it. But looking at the image, it's just as likely the figure is turned away from the magic-cloud-cup because it's just not what they want or need at the moment, thanks very much. A good way to expand the potential story of the card.

(I'm hoping this shows up with my name rather than Anonymous, but I'm having some issues so we'll see...)

    1. Hi Mary thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
Sometimes a card can suddenly mean something entirely different depending on you personal situation. That's the beauty of reading tarot and adding some intuition to the book meanings

  3. Ellen, love that take on the four of cups. As Mary said, I usually see that fourth cup as something going unnoticed, something which needs to be paid attention. But I love the way you put it here. Leave me alone, I have all I can handle.

    1. Thanks Cher. There was a very obvious scream of "It's enough! "inside my head. I like it how sometimes you are able to extend the interpretation of one card through personal experiences :)

  4. This is one of those things, when people talk about learning the meanings of the cards. Yes, it's right to know traditional meanings, but being a reader means listening to your intuition, even if it uses a vard to tell you something different. Otherwise, you could just get a computer-generated reading, or only read from books. End of rant, and thank you for such an insightful post, Ellen :)

    1. Thanks for you "rant"! I fully agree with you. Reading cards should be a perfect blend of book knowledge and intuition.
