Queen of Wands - To blog or not to blog

Queen of Wands Thoth tarot Crowley Tarot blog blogger Frieda Harris
The question whether to keep blogging has been on my mind quite a lot. On one hand, I really miss writing about tarot and the connection with my online friends but on the other hand, I keep asking myself why would I want to continue. I have been posting tarot pictures on IG very regularly and that felt as it was enough for me. One thing I am sure of is that this tiny spot on the World Wide Web is still so very dear to me and I don't want it to fade away with so many other inactive blogs.
But truthfully, sometimes I feel as if I have said it all. What possible more could I write about a card....
And then I pulled the Queen of Wands from the Thoth Tarot, which has become an absolute favorite deck of mine. What stands out today are the black spots on her leopard which symbolize the remnants of her past. The story goes she was once a dark haired Queen with a black panther who has transformed into the Queen she is today. But she still carries the scars of all the hurt and suffering she has been through.
The challenge of this Queen is to share her story with others and by doing so to reaffirm time and again what she has learned. so it will be ingrained in her most inner being.
Repetition isn't a bad thing. Originality is overrated. It is the mere act of writing and sharing what counts.
So I sincerely hope this post will inspire me to write the next one....

  1. I hope you do continue blogging, even if it is just once a month. But write for yourself - don't feel as if you need to entertain or educate anyone else. That would take a lot of the pressure off of you. (((E)))
    (I like the leopard story!)

  2. I miss blogs and blogging, but I agree that IG and youtube has changed the tarot conversation among the online community. It's a good change, but it is hard to know what the next steps are. Can you tell me where you got the symbolism for the Thoth card? Is it from the LWB or from a larger book? I'm only beginning to work with Thoth, so I'm curious. Thank you!

    1. Welcome to my blog!
I feel that when scrolling through my IG feed I sometimes overlook what has been written about the cards. The emphasis is often on the photos.
That's why I also miss blogging. It slows me down.
The book I use mainly for this deck is "Tarot, the mirror of the soul" by Gets Ziegler

    2. Thank you! I've been reading your blog for a long time, but I think this might be the first time I've commented -- or commented when I was logged in. :-)

  3. Ellen I'd be very sad to see you stop blogging! Your insightful posts help many of your readers, including me, and I certain many that you've never met though no comments left. Sometimes it's good to find a way to get a different perspective. I might compare it to looking at a drawing you've done by holding it up to a mirror and looking at it. Sometimes we just need to take a break, or break out from our pattern. I know I'd shrivel up creatively if I stopped blogging. As you know I have two blogs that are very specific in their focus and as much as I enjoy that, I also have another blog that gives me the opportunity to express my own inner most thoughts that aren't really related to creativity or Tarot. Maybe a new blog might give you a fresh perspective, just for yourself and the joy of writing, with no expectations.

    1. Thank you for your kind words Catherine. The mirror test can sometimes be very confronting. I don't think I could handle more than one blog. I do have a very personal journal which is my save place to really get to the bottom of things.
Letting go of any expectations about my writing will be a very liberating experience

  4. Hello Ellen, I always remember Sharyn telling she writes for herself.
Somedays we have more to say and post than others. Your blog is your blog. Write when you feel like writing. Your blog is a journal that happens to be posted for the World to see, and regardless if someone reads or doesn't, the blog is for you by you.

    1. Thanks Carolyn. Perhaps it's the teacher in me that's making me very conscious about my content. Writing for myself is going to be my first priority from here on

  7. I had never heard that story! So, something new, at least to me :) As you say, originality is overrated. We have a saying: 'There is nothing new under the sun.' The point is to connect, to reflect, to be heard, and to share <3 I hope you keep writing, as it is always a joy to read it!

  8. Ellen, I totally understand the question of to blog or not to blog. I've only recently got my blog back up after the winter break. I think you know the answer. :) Blogging seems to be an important outlet for you, and of course we all enjoy reading and seeing your work. Blog when you feel like it, break when you don't. LOL, I'm working on this myself, trying to get my commitments straight and get back to what's important. Best of luck.

  10. When I found Dr. LAZARUS  I was in desperate need of bringing my ex lover back. He left me for another woman. It happened so fast and I had no say in the situation at all. He just dumped me after 3 years with no explanation. I contact Dr.LAZARUS   through his website and He told me what i need to do before he can help me and i did what he told me to, after i provided what he wanted, he cast a love spell to help us get back together. Shortly after he did his spell, my boyfriend started texting me again and felt horrible for what he just put me through. He said that I was the most important person in his life and he knows that now. We moved in together and he was more open to me than before and then he started spending more time with me than before. Ever since Dr.LAZARUS   helped me, my partner is very stable, faithful and closer to me than before. I highly recommends Dr.LAZARUS   to anyone in need of help.
