For this
New Moon I've drawn as usual two cards. The first one for the energy I am going
to release and the second one for the energy which is beneficial for me to
embrace. From the wildwood Tarot I pulled:
1 Release - Page of Vessels
This Page
is depicted as an Otter, sitting on a slab of stone near the river. Otter is a
very playful and joyful creature. He also represents being intuitive, brave
enough to be vulnerable and open to share his feelings. I don’t see how I would
want to release any of those qualities.
As a challenging
card this signifies self-indulgence, living too much in your imagination and being
absorbed by your own troubles. Now those are more likely aspects of my life I
want to let go of.
2 Embrace - Ace of Stones
I was pleasantly
surprised to see this card in the Embrace position. It is also the first card
of my Tarot spell for a healthy life style.
Here we
see a standing stone as a symbol that we can create changes in the material
world if we set our mind to it; we can manifest our hopes and dreams but also our
fear and anxiety. It is up to me what I chose to create. The potential of this Ace is limitless.
Together
these cards tell me to step out of my over busy imaginative mind. I’ve spend
more time thinking about a healthy lifestyle, than actually living it. Luckily I know
myself and I am not going to beat myself up over this but I do love the fact
how this reading is giving me a wake-up call to get real.
When I see the Page of Cups pop up, I always think of my middle grandson. He would be the one to bring you a dandelion flower, or if I pinched a finger, ask if he could kiss my "boo-boo." He was SO sweet, yet he was also the most sensitive and easily had his feelings hurt, whether intentional or unintentional. Perhaps over-sensitivity might also apply for what to release?
ReplyDeleteYes this is definitely something I have to be mindful of. I do tend to take situations too personal and often in a bad way, like feeling guilty for something which is totally out of my control. (silly me)
DeleteBut I have been riding my bike today so that is a good thing!
I always have to watch for the 'overthinking it to death' syndrome. As you note, one more way to avoid movement and decisions
ReplyDeleteThinking can be such a time consuming activity, that there is hardly any left to really do something :D
DeleteI enjoy reading through your thought process about the cards. I thought the same thing when I saw that joyful otter...why would you want to release such a happy thing!? But I definitely see the other end of it as well. Just goes to show how every card can have a limiting factor.
ReplyDeleteYes you are right. Each card has a light and a dark side and lots of grays in between.:D
DeleteBest of luck with this. I too have spent much more time thinking of how I want things to be, and less time doing the things that need to be done to get to where I want to be. Today is a perfect day to start. :)
ReplyDeleteAs is each day! I am a excellent procrastinator too, pretending to be busy with everything but that one thign which needs to be done :D
DeleteThese cards offer such a nice counter balance! Moving away from "feeling" and into "doing." Not that the feeling is lost, just that it has "feet" underneath it, giving it support and form. I'm glad you say you won't beat yourself up about it, after all, the otter is the icon of enjoyment! :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems we are both walking the road of joy and playfulness! You with Bast and I with Otter :D
DeleteEllen I love the way you I can see you working through these things in how you interpret the cards.
ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to over thinking things. I use to be so analytical and it got worse when I'd be hangin' out with those who were similar. I had a friend I grew up with, and we would analyze ourselves, others, situations, life and then analyze or analysis. Then we'd wonder why we were doing this, and what the hell was wrong with us! Thankfully I lived more in my body than my head, exercising, dancing etc.
I have been and can still be the queen of procrastination, but have made big improvements over the years, so I empathize with you for sure. I'll never forget what one of my long timer fellow A.A. members once told me about the meaning of the word procrastination. "It's like masturbation. The only person you screw is yourself". I know...I'm bad. ;)
Bad girl! shame on you!
DeleteHa ha! maybe it is inherent to being human. We are rather lazy than tired . Look at all the apes in the jungle: sleeping and playing and eating and being naughty. I think we are the only mammals who procrastinate because we are so overly busy!
Let take it easy this weekend!
I think we are the only mammals who procrastinate because we are so overly busy! Oh that's good Ellen.
ReplyDeleteI had so much to do in my garden yesterday because I procrastinated so long and I worked liked a dog.
But today? I'm definitely a monkey! <3
Ah, the limitless potential of the Ace of Stones! I'm a big fan of breaking tasks up into (very) small chunks, so they become easy to start on, rather than seeing the big job and getting stuck in imagining how hard it will be to complete. So, with your healthy lifestyle, I wish you luck in finding even one small change to make, and practice for a week, or whatever feels right to you... :)
ReplyDeleteYes this approach is really helpful. You've mentioned it also in regard to my drawing. I am giving myself a star (sticker) when I've exercised: I am trying to earn three a week and the next week is always a fresh start. Maybe childish but I love getting a star from myself!
DeleteThat's such a lovely idea, Ellen! Hmm, wondering how I could incorporate stars for myself. I just have boring ticked to-do lists... :D
