Today’s cards is the
Four of Swords from the Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. This deck seems to be popping up on several of my
favorite blogs and YouTube channels. so I was inspired to pick it up and draw
from it myself. This card seems to be a follow-up from my last post about
turning inwards and listening to your intuition.
We see a woman adrift in midair with three swords
above her head and one held with both hands on her chest. Her head is the
center of golden spiraling swirls. Her hair is swaying and the ends are
blending in with these swirls. Around her body lotuses are floating in the air
as a symbol of spiritual and mental purity; of enlightenment. The sword on her
chest has the sigil of an eye, which symbolizes seeing the world with
your heart, filled with compassion and love.
Although this card is, like yesterday’s card, also
about meditation and listening to the “silent whispers of our heart” it
is also about the necessity of retreat. Often, when this card shows up it is an
indication we have been running around in our head far too long and got trapped and/or
lost in the tangle of our thoughts. As you all know by now, I have a
very swordy personality, so whenever I draw a version of this card I feel
an relief. It urges me take a few steps back and breath. The Four of Swords is
a kind of guardian angel card for me. So today I will try to carve out time to
relax and enjoy the silence in and around (if possible) me. Not only because I
love it but because I need it!
Lost in my mindscape
List'ning to the whispering
Of a silent heart
"A tangle of thoughts" - now that phrase just nails it when it comes to my mind, especially when I have a lot going on. Yet when I allow my mind to be receptive instead of frantically active, it seems many of those mental knots come undone.
ReplyDeleteOnly just now I am reminded of "Tangled" the movie. with Rapunzel locked away high in the Tower. She must have had enough time to undo her "knots" :D
DeleteThe necessity of retreat - yes exactly! What a beautiful card this is. For me it's very much about claiming space for restoration and renewal...it's kind of what the Two of Swords wants, but doesn't know how to ask for.
ReplyDeleteYes and if we don't ask this for ourselves, eventually we will get into a Three of Swords...
DeleteLovely! For me, this card is quite literal. I just spent a couple of days on vacation which was wonderful and much needed. IN a way, that was my rest - getting away from the everyday schedule, breathing new air. On the other hand I'm feeling in need of rest and recuperation today after all the walking and busy-ness I experienced while away! But overall I am feeling refreshed. May you find moments of restful silence today :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Olivia :)
DeleteHaha, and the need for retreat never stops!
I can remember vacations being so stressful and exciting thatI was so happy when everybody went to school and work again so I had the house for myself.
But yes it is refreshing stepping out of the daily routine
I love this card and the message;
ReplyDeleteThank you Angel Blue :)
DeleteA much needed reminder that it is okay to step back and take a rest when you really need it.
ReplyDelete(My mind so rarely turns off. ha ha ha)
Ha ha I should carry a four of swords with me all day. As long as I am not to busy in my head to look at it:D
DeleteIt's interesting that the Four of Swords is such a restful card, when you think about the rest of the suit... Most images show the person holding just one sword, having managed to store the rest for the time being :) Hope you carved out space for yourself, and if not it looks like your computer is conspiring to help you do so
ReplyDeleteMaybe this suits needs it the most. :)
Deleteto be honest I did enjoy this time without the internet. When M got my laptop going again there was no room for quieting the mind anymore: reinstalling Windows, and other programs. Downloading, copying, pasting, trouble shooting and solving, etc. I am nearly finished so I hope I can start blogging this weekend again!!
