Nauthiz and the Knight of Cups - No need to walk on water

For today I have pulled the rune Nauthiz two times:  First on my Rune app and then, because it didn’t feel “real” enough, another  one from my rune pouch. Maybe apps are quite capable to tune into our energy field???
Anyway Nauthiz is the rune of troubles and poverty and of the need and strength to turn the tide. And that is when the Knight of Cups from the Shadowscapes Tarot starts riding the waves. His mount is a white unicorn, symbol of his purest intentions. The undines and sylphs are beckoning him towards the shining gold cup; his holy grail.
This is an admirable quality of this Knight but perhaps also his downfall. He might feel  the urge to keep on riding, searching, until he can hold this perfect Cup in his hands. The elementals are seemingly helping him but maybe they are also leading him away from his true purpose: to live in and enjoy the present moment.
This strive for perfection is an eternal ongoing quest and this might be blocking him from experiencing his daily small but also very significant accomplishments.

Today I will enjoy the present moment and receive the abundance of this day.

P.S. This afternoon I've been practicing with my new pens without the need of making a perfect drawing. I've just copied a picture from a fairy tale book and I had a lot of fun  doing so. And that is what matters the most

  1. A very good goal for the day...one that I should take to heart as well. I hope your day turns out wonderful.

    1. So far so good! I've been applying this to my constant "need" to make perfect drawing which keeps me from drawing all together and feeling unsatisfied with what I've made so far.
Just making marks with a pencil on paper can be so relaxing whatever the result will be :)

    2. I need to overcome that need to make a perfect drawing too. I used to doodle all the time and I don't anymore. Your drawing turned out lovely. :)

    3. It is strange how we can be such an obstacle for our own well being. I now how hard it is but try to pick up that pen and put it on paper and the rest will follow quite easily

  2. I wonder if that feeling of poverty comes because he has lost his sense of purpose. Good thing the nature spirits are there to help point him in the right direction! I could see how brooding about the past or worrying about the future could throw him off track. Staying in the moment sounds like a it could benefit him. :)

    1. He might even drown when he loses his purpose.
It benefits all of us! I wonder why it is such a difficult thing to do when it brings so much joy:
I've just finished a small sketch and I felt so happy

  4. What a lovely drawing! I love it when you share your artwork :) I've found that apps can be fairly accurate, but I don't like to use them much because of what you said - they still don't feel "real enough." I like to touch my cards or runes!!!

    1. Thanks Olivia!
Me too. I was waiting in the car for my daughter and played with the app but nothing can beat the real thing. Although I do like those apps a lot for study and reference.

  5. I'll echo Olivia's sentiments about sharing your work. It's always a treat for your readers when you do. My first thought upon seeing your drawing was Ellen's Lenormand ;)

  6. It's always lovely seeing your work - it is odd that so many of us struggle with the whole 'perfection' idea, and so often with art. I'm the same, daft really, when it it can be so freeing.

    1. Thanks Margo! And yes it is "daft". I think that we do so many things on a daily base which will undermine our own happiness. For instance I want to meditate, write, exercise and make art etc but something "more important" often gets in the way
But yesterday was a Six of Wands day :)

  7. Oh, that is a lovely drawing! I've been drawing a lot, lately, and it makes me appreciate even more when I see someone with skill and such an eye for detail :) Striving for perfection has its good side, encouraging us to overcome challenges like those of Nauthiz, but as you say, it can be its own challenge, too. Glad you found a good balance today :)
